The most importent in the fitness world

While the push-up primarily targets the muscles :
chest, arms and shoulders , support required from other muscles results in a wide range of muscles integrated into the exercise

Military recruits often pumps as part of their physical training. Here trainees of the U.S. Navy at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego perform push -ups in May 2005, as part of their basic training recruits.
abdominal
The rectus abdominis and transversus abdominis contract ceases performing push-ups to keep the body on the floor and keep the legs and torso aligned. The rectus abdominis extends to the front of the abdomen and is the largest of the abdominal muscles. The transversus abdominis is located deep within the abdomen , winding around the entire abdominal region . Both muscles compress the abdomen, and the rectus abdominis also flexes the spine forward, even if it does not perform this function when performing push-ups .
deltoid
The anterior deltoid muscle is a major horizontal adductor shoulder joint , move your arms towards your chest during a push-up bottom phase. It also helps control the moving speed during the downswing . The deltoid attachment to parts of the clavicle and scapula just above the shoulder joint , at one end , and out of the humerus bone to another. With horizontal adduction , the anterior deltoid using bending and internal rotation of the humerus in the cavity of the shoulder.
pectoral
The pectoralis major is another major horizontal adductor of the shoulder joint , so that it performs the same functions as the anterior deltoid during a push-up . It also contributes to adduction, extension, flexion and internal rotation ranges of motion. The muscle is divided into parts clavicular and sternal . Both sides attach just outside of the head of the humerus and run to the center of your body . The parts are then separated , with the clavicular attached to the inner two-thirds portion of the clavicle and the sternum at the front of the sternum and the first six ribs .
triceps

While the deltoids and pectoral muscles work earlier main horizontal adduction of the arm during a push-up ascending phase , the muscles of triceps, triceps or for short, are also hard at work to extend the elbows so that you can fully extend your arms. Triceps also control the speed of the elbow flexion during the downward phase of the exercise . The approximation you place your hands in a push up , more work triceps. The muscle is divided into three heads – lateral head, long head and medial head. The lateral and medial heads attach to the back of the humerus and the long head attaches just behind the shoulder joint on one end; . All three heads combine and attach to the back of your elbow on the other
